Monday 26th October- bike **** - Felixstowe Circuit including lunch at
Levington Marina – sunny start then cloudy with sun returning late.
After a hectic weekend of windsurfing where I sailed 117 miles, I was quite
pleased that our van was in for its yearly service/mot today despite a good
breeze blowing, in fact it is looking breezy for many days now! So, I
dropped the van off at the garage, breakfast and actually managed to do my
exercises in the garden in wall to wall sunshine. Mag and I then decided to
take a flask of homemade soup over to Levington Marina even though it was
breezy, not our favourite to cycle in and in fact it had crowded over with
the odd light shower! Leaving at midday we headed past the cemetery and
over to dock link road past a big building site where some massive
warehouses have sprung up! We follow the tree lined footpath all the way to
Loompit Lake passing a large machine still harvesting potatoes. The tide is
very low on the River Orwell meaning it is not good for windsurfing there
this week and Loompit Lake is absolutely covered in geese, hundreds of them
plus the one lonely Black Swan! We sit at the picnic area at the marina and
are thankfully fairly sheltered, enjoying our yummy celery and vegetable
soup with even a few yachts out on the river! It is a little chilly to sit
too long so we leave the marina up the road spotting a single deer.
Following the railway line, we again see the large herd of nervous deer in
the cabbage field including the really light coloured one with its
youngster! Then over to Trimley and onto Candlet Lane, biking through the
woods at The Grove for the first time in ages. I then go through the town
and onto the cliff road to look at the sea and am surprised to see the wind
has gone offshore! We enjoy a cuppa at home and get a message to say our
van is ready so walk to pick it up. I then take Mag to do a big shop at
Lidl and go and check out the sunset at the Dock viewpoint and lovely it
was too:) Not sure about windsurfing as it is supposed to rain????
